Firefighter Aid Ukraine – Meet the Teams Behind the Mission

Established in 2014, Firefighter Aid Ukraine (FFAU) has become a cornerstone of international support for Ukraine’s emergency response network. Over the past decade, FFAU has worked hand-in-hand with the State Emergency Services (DSNS) delivering nearly 500 tonnes of life-saving rescue gear and medical aid to frontline responders and hospitals as of Spring 2025. FFAU even supports several orphanages in Ukraine.

Canadian firefighters teach Ukraine first responders new skills and techniques

In September, Firefighter Aid Ukraine sent a team of volunteers from Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver to Ukraine to conduct training with Ukrainian first responders. The training will ensure that first responders in Ukraine are safer and have a wider number of skills to use when they are responding to calls. MacEwan University partners with Free Store for Newcomers and Firefighter Aid Ukraine

MacEwan University is proud to officially announce a partnership with two important community organizations, Free Store for Ukrainian Newcomers and Firefighter Aid Ukraine (FFAU). The Free Store for Ukrainian Newcomers (FSUN) provides clothing and essentials at no charge to Ukrainian newcomers to Canada displaced by the war in Ukraine. FFAU collects firefighter gear, personal protective equipment (PPE), life rescue equipment and medical supplies from fire departments and vendors in Canada and sends it to first responders in Ukraine.

Nova Ukraine with Firefighter Aid Ukraine Deliver $3M of Equipment to Ukrainian Firefighters

Over $3M of donated medical and firefighting equipment, collected from fire stations across Canada, has been delivered to the State Emergency Services of Ukraine (DSNS). Nova Ukraine, a non-profit delivering humanitarian aid to Ukraine since 2014, and Firefighter Aid Ukraine (FAU), a Canadian-based nonprofit working with the DSNS since 2014, have collected over 108 pallets and two shipping containers worth of donated equipment to date. Included are medical supplies, rescue equipment, and protective clothing.
